American Association of Individual Investors. This nonprofit organization strives to provide investors with the education and tools necessary to build wealth. Includes a good tutorial for new investors, as well as information about stock investing, financial planning, and retirement funding.

Big Charts. Interactive charting service of MarketWatch, Inc., providing free, unlimited access to charts, reports, and quotes.

Charles Schwab. Charles Schwab is a discount broker/dealer and one of the custodians of Robinswood Financial accounts. Use this site to view your account balances, market news, and services offered.

Dimensional Fund Advisors. A mutual fund organization that applies academic research on capital market behavior to the practical world of investing.

Efficient Frontier. Features an online journal of practical asset allocation.

Index Funds.com. Terrific resource on the use of index funds and passive investing versus conventional actively managed mutual funds.

iShares. A division of Barclays Global Investors that sponsors iShares Exchange Traded Funds (ETFs) designed to closely track specific indexes.

Morningstar. Excellent source for investment news, commentary, and research tools.

MSN Money. Microsoft’s comprehensive financial and investment website. Includes financial news and comprehensive information about investing, banking, planning, and taxes. It also includes message boards, personalized alerts, and support for Microsoft Money personal finance software.

Mutual Fund Investor’s Center. Includes information about mutual funds, as well as tools and calculators for selecting the best mutual funds for your portfolio

Quote.com. A comprehensive source for securities quotes, charts, news, and by-subscription investment research.

Treasury Direct. Information about U.S. treasuries, including how to buy securities directly from the U.S. Treasury without paying commissions, and everything you want to know about U.S. savings bonds.

U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission. Here you can check out a broker or financial planner’s record or download a fund expense calculator to see the impact of expense ratios over time.

Vanguard. Offers investor education and data on Vanguard funds.

Yahoo Finance. A comprehensive source for securities quotes, charts, news, and investment research.

Bloomberg. Offers financial news, analysis, market data, and investment tools. Also includes information about Bloomberg’s media services through television, radio, and podcasts.

Forbes. Online edition of Forbes magazine. Also news, commentary, Forbes video network, investment newsletters, investment tools, discussion forums, and more.

Kiplinger. Online edition of Kiplinger’s Personal Finance magazine. The site also includes a wealth of calculators, investor education, and more.

FTC Identity Theft Site. The Federal Trade Commission’s identity theft website is a one-stop resource to help you deter, detect, and defend against identity theft.

Investment Scams, Frauds, & Con Artists. Fraud information sponsored by the Washington State Department of Financial Institutions.

NASAA Fraud Center. Information and resources to avoid becoming a victim of investment scams, sponsored by the North American Securities Administrators Association (NASAA).

NASAA Investor Alerts and Tips. A primer on the most common types of schemes, scams, and fraud you need to be aware of as an investor.

National Center for Home Equity Conversion. Offers consumers an independent resource that allows for true comparison shopping of various reverse mortgage programs.

Zillow.com. Tools to estimate home values in regions all over the United States. You can also find listings of homes for sale, list your home, and get advice about buying and selling a home.

eHealthInsurance. Complete online service to learn about, compare, and buy health insurance.

Medicare. Official U.S. Government website with information about Medicare billing, plan choices, prescription drug plans, and preventive services. You can also find a health provider, enter an address change, or request a replacement Medicare card.

Internal Revenue Service. The official IRS website, with forms, publications, and frequently asked questions about tax regulations.

Social Security Online. Washington State Department of Labor and Industries. Information about L&I insurance and claims, workplace safety, workplace rights, contractor permits, and more.

CareerBuilder.com. Career and employment information, including job listings, job recommendations, resumes, advice, and resources. Also includes tools for distributing resumes, calculating salaries, searching career fairs, and getting career advice.

College Board. The website for the college entrance examination board, providing information about SAT registration and preparation. Also includes college searches.

E-LOAN. A good resource for student loan options.

FastWeb. A search service for locating scholarships, including 1.3 million scholarships worth over $3 billion. Also includes profiles for colleges and universities and searches for internships.

FinAid. Comprehensive website about all aspects of student financial aid. Includes information about scholarships, student loans, and savings. Has downloadable financial aid applications and instructions, as well as tools and calculators.

Monster.com. Employment opportunities in all fields across the country. Also includes advice and resources for developing resumes, interviewing, company research, salary surveys, and career development.

SallieMae. Website for Sallie Mae, the nation’s leading provider of student loans. Features calculators for estimating college costs, savings needs, and student loan payments as well as a great deal of financial aid and scholarship information.

Savingforcollege.com. A great source for comprehensive information about Section 529 college savings plans and other ways to save and pay for college. Provides unbiased compilations and information comparisons.

General Purpose


Ask. A search engine that lets you ask simple questions to locate information or answers on the Internet.

Consumer Reports. Online version of Consumer Reports magazine. You can research nearly any planned purchase using its virtual archive of past issues. Subscription required for many articles.

Edmunds.com. Information about car buying, including dealer cost data, unbiased car reviews, ratings, and advice on vehicle purchases.

FreeAdvice.com. Free online legal advice. The best site for consumers, with easy-to-understand answers to legal questions. Also includes information about the law, insurance advice, lawyer referral, and downloadable legal forms.

MissingMoney.com. A national search engine for unclaimed money and property from bank accounts, safe deposit boxes, investments, uncashed checks, insurance policies, trust funds, CDs, utility deposits, escrow accounts, and more.

Community Service


Robinswood Financial is committed to community service. The following are links to charities and service organizations in which we are active.

American Red Cross. Nongovernmental humanitarian organization that helps people prevent, prepare for, and respond to emergencies. This organization teaches lifesaving skills such as CPR and first aid, helps U.S. service members separated from their families stay connected, collects donations and supplies blood and blood products.

Angel Flight West. Part of a national network of organizations which arranges free air transportation in response to health care and other compelling needs.

Children’s Hospital and Regional Medical Center. Children’s Hospital in Seattle serves as the pediatric referral center for Washington, Alaska, Montana, and Idaho. The hospital also conducts pediatric research and serves as an educational resource for parents and health care professionals.

Matt Talbot Center (MTC). The Matt Talbot Center (MTC) is a recovery program and treatment center for the addicted, the homeless, and mentally ill. Located in Seattle’s Belltown neighborhood, the MTC offers hope, services, and support to individuals ready to commit to their recovery with an intensive clinical outpatient treatment program.

Volunteer Optometric Services to Humanity (VOSH). The primary mission of VOSH/International is to facilitate the provision and the sustainability of vision care worldwide to people who can neither afford nor obtain such care. In Dec 2001 we partnered with the World Health Organization and pledged to eliminate preventable blindness by the year 2020.

Regional Aviation Support (RAVEN). Staffed 100% by volunteers that have dedicated themselves to serving the communities of King County and surrounding counties, it specializes in the safe establishment and operations of Helispots and Helibases when aviation assets are requested for Law Enforcement Special Operations / Fire / EMS / Search and Rescue / Public Safety Education / Natural Disasters / Out of County Assists. RAVEN is an IRS 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization based in King County, Washington State.
